In 2008, Sharon Terry, a resident in the adjoining Village of West Clay, inquired about starting a Guild to support Coxhall Gardens. Once given the encouragement of Allen Patterson, Executive Director of Hamilton County Parks, Sharon recruited a group of ladies from the surrounding neighborhood and throughout Hamilton and Marion counties to join her in the planning of fundraisers to enhance the estate and surrounding gardens. While the parks board was busy working to make the mansion ADA accessible and ready for the public, Sharon and the Guild began holding fundraisers to raise additional funds for the beautification of the mansion and the grounds.
Over the years, the Guild has held many successful events including dinners in the gardens, ice cream socials, hoe downs, madrigal dinners, mother daughter teas, Christmas tours through the mansion, and Tablescapes, just to name a few. All of the proceeds go back into the Coxhall Estate. Most recently, the Guild has hosted Spring Sensatio
Most recently, the Guild has hosted Spring Sensation to bring local vendors and visitors together to enjoy the mansion. However, the biggest fundraiser for the past few years has been Posh Picnic, a special event held outside every summer filled with creativity, music, dancing, and a silent auction.
The Guild is now composed of over 40 ladies working tirelessly on projects to continue to beautify the mansion and the surrounding gardens. They also include fun events to show appreciation to the members for all their hard work. Every year they host Christmas parties and other fun events to say a big thank you for all the hard work that goes into honoring the vision of Jesse and Beulah Cox.
